Fleet maintenance costs are trending upward compared to prior years. The key reason is the higher frequency of repairs on higher-mileage units as a result of the widespread deferment of equipment replacement by many government fleets. In a true case of "pay me now or pay me later," fleet managers face the challenge of how to hold maintenance costs down while operating an aging fleet.

Director of Fleet Operations
 Nassau County Police Department is looking for a fleet manager to direct automotive maintenance and repair activities in a large repair shop and ten satellite shops. Additional duties include budgeting, planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the activities of subordinates.
Minimum requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree; ten years of fleet maintenance experience with progressive supervisory and management responsibility; three years of managing a complex fleet maintenance operation for more than 100 vehicles and 50 employees; a New York State Driver License, CDL preferred; and proficiency in both fleet-related software and standard business software.
